A dedicated space for talks, lectures and conferences, with full presentation facilities.
What is proposed
The proposal is for a dedicated auditorium: a room built for an audience facing forward, rather than a hall rearranged into rows whenever someone needs to speak.
Theatre-style seating, a raised stage and lectern, and a large screen with projection, so that talks, lectures, conferences and annual meetings can be held to a proper standard without hiring in equipment each time.
It would sit alongside the Event Hall rather than replace it. The two rooms answer different needs, and having both means a conference and a celebration can run on the same day without one displacing the other.

The thinking
How Auditorium could work
Talks and lectures
Visiting speakers, series and single evenings, with sightlines and acoustics that work for an audience of any size the room can hold.
Conferences
A main room for plenary sessions, with breakout space elsewhere in the building and catering arranged with the organiser's chosen supplier.
AGMs and meetings
A dignified setting for annual meetings, consultations and civic gatherings, for Salam Centre and for other organisations across Wales.
Presentation facilities
Large screen, projection and a lectern as part of the room rather than brought in, so a speaker can arrive and simply speak.
Education and training
Larger teaching sessions, professional seminars and training days that outgrow a classroom in the Education Suite.
Community use
Discounted access for Welsh Muslim organisations, charities and schools, on the same basis as the rest of the building.
Still to be settled
What this depends on.
Everything here is part of the proposed vision for the building. It is shown so the community can shape it, not because it is fixed.
- Capacity and seating layout are still being worked through with the design team.
- Delivery depends on funding, fit-out and the relevant approvals being in place.
- Acoustic treatment, AV specification and accessibility provision are yet to be finalised.
- Sequencing against the other proposed spaces has not been decided; community feedback will inform it.
